Bedford Thunder U14 boys attended their second visit to Aylesbury on Sunday 2nd December to face off against Shenley Scorpions and Aylesbury dux.
Just like it was previously, half of the players who attended today, it was their first actual league game. But it was a great performance from everyone as they really stepped up and was able to nearly secure a win in both games. All the players looked a lot more comfortable in the second game and this shows that it will get better for them as time goes on.
Coach David says “ An outstanding performance from everyone today. Yes, nerves did kick in from the start, but this soon left and all the kids were eager to play. We still have a lot to work on, but the boys should be proud of themselves after the games they had today. Yes, the win didn’t go our way, but that isn’t what we’re about. Player development is key, and once they keep getting game experience and work hard at training then they will soon see the benefits. We were able to keep the score against Aylesbury Dux in the second game to only a 12 point difference. As the Dux have a great Under 14 program, I thought this was a great result for us today. I would like to congratulate the players who played their first ever game today as they really stepped up and took the next step to become a better basketball player.
The confidence levels are certainly rising as the weeks go on. Players are starting to move the ball well, get into space and work better as a unit. All of the teams that attended today played well and the boys at Bedford Thunder are confident that they will look like a different team when facing them again.
The Under 14 boys now have seven weeks before returning back to Aylesbury to face off against AHS Gold and Aylesbury Dux on the 27th January. This does include two weeks off due to the Christmas/New Years holiday.
