Determination, Growth and a Stuck Ball

In a busy a weekend for our development and established Thunder Teams, we kicked off our 1st double header of games away at Cambourne.

Our u12 Boys gave a great account of their development over the past few months and with a somewhat depleted side managed to get some vital experience in a loss to East Cambs Warriors going down 58 – 33. A great contribution from our point guard Joel with 15 points on the day and a solid performance from our other guard Kent with 8 points.

Next up was our Girls U12 team, only in their 2nd competitive game started the game positively but against a much more experienced team lost 54 – 6. Every game is an experience Girls, keep working hard and continuing to develop.

Sunday featured the main events, with our U16s hosting Cambourne Falcons and our U18s Stevenage Royals.

We tip’d off at 2 with our U16s who controlled the game and the score throughout. A good mixture of defense, set plays, 3 pointers and a stuck ball! allowed the boys to be in front each quarter with great contributions from our Guards Veljko and Esam registering 13 and 12 points respectively.

We finished with a very competitive and physical match against Stevenage Royals, despite some intense matchups and moments our boys kept it on the court and battled through to win comfortably 92 – 69. Some moments for all with 3’s, dunks and half to remember for our Guard Daniel Aldred. He scored a quick and impressive 19 points in the 3rd quarter with a mixture of layups, jumpers and the odd 3 and increased that to end with 29 points for the 2nd half. A solid performance from all, with our forwards Senen Ametume and Kayden Augustine contributing a solid 17 and 15 points respectively.

Well done Guys and Girls on a great weekend of basketball and Thank you to all our player parents and supporters for your ongoing support  – Lets Go Thunder
